Expert Q & A
Expert Q & A

Is there a way that I can remotely teach my mom how to use her new computer?

Yes, there are several ways to access or “share” your mom's desktop while she's online so you can give her a live tour around her computer. For example, you can use the Windows XP operating system -- if you both have it -- and use its “Remote Desktop” feature to take over her desktop and give her a demo of how to use certain programs.

Alternatively, you can use fee-based online tools, such as WebEx or Glance, which allow you to share her desktop and show her a live demonstration of how to use her computer. Also, you can try using simple web camera and an instant messaging program to show her how you're using your computer and she can follow along on her PC.
